The Leadership Capital Index
The most stimulating and useful book I’ve recently read is from my good friend of well over 40 years, Dave Ulrich. His newest book, "The Leadership Capital Index: Realizing the Market Value of Leadership" provides a rigorous methodology for investors, Board members, HR and Organizational leaders to assess the contribution that their leaders provide to the market value of their company. The roadmap of individual and organizational domains with five elements for each help address how to quantify the intangibles that account for 50% of the market value of companies.
Dave was as an English major in college when I recommended that he might enjoy the field of Organizational Behavior which I was studying in Graduate School at BYU at the time. He took an undergraduate OB321 class form the legendary Professor Bonner Ritchie and our field has been greatly best ever since because of this.
To Dave’s credit he has written 25 books that have greatly influenced the HR and Organizational Behavior field. HR Magazine named him the father of modern human resources in 2012 after calling him the most influential international thought leader for five consecutive years. Last year, speaking.com ranked him the No. 1 speaker in management and business. He was ranked as the #1 management guru by Business Week, profiled by Fast Company as one of the world’s top 10 creative people in business, a top 5 coach in Forbes, and recognized on Thinkers50 as one of the world’s leading business thinkers.
Dave is a great friend and stimulated and greatly influenced my thinking and I believe you will be too by reading this and others of his books and articles.
